Butterfly Trilogy  II

asleep
                        for hundreds of years
                        forest grown all about
the intertwining vines holding her hair

the dragons are slain        the spells are cast off
                        a new morning dawns
with dew to feed the butterflies!

he came from a lofty cloud
                        wings softly fluttering
to touch-down near her wrapped slumbering
          tenderly unravelling her gauze web
          unfolding her wings        warming them
                          dry with his breath

kissing her eyes        opening        awakening from
                            her long dream
                          she saw him there
at first hesitantly        then with growing sureness
                        she tried her new wings

                                  at last
                       her imprisonment ended
                          brown cords uncoiled
the two        lift from this chrysalid forest
to golden castles in the sun
