Velveteen Lava
crisp winter blows across
the lava flows
west of rio grande
carries scattered crystals
white moisture patterns
intricately woven locks
wind driven snow
& sounds of railwheels
rumbling along steel tracks
listen - the whistle howls
in synchropoise
with our hearts
I look into your liquid eyes
soft from torn sorrow,
hold you close
& touch your velveteen tygre stripes
winter bearing away our
volcanic heat
